Civic Activity
Working with the Maidan civic association, public officials, and the small-business community to address systemic challenges facing Ukraine.
World Ukrainian Association “Maidan”
Our foundation works closely with current and former Ukrainian public officials across many levels of government, and is a member of the Maidan Coordination Council.
We initiated the creation of an informal association — the World Ukrainian Association “Maidan” (WUA “Maidan”). At its core is a group of subject-matter experts covering all areas of Ukrainian state life, tasked with identifying and resolving systemic problems. Anyone with relevant expertise can join as a member-expert, regardless of country of residence.
Engagement with government
Our representatives serve on the working group of the Maidan Coordination Council, which engages directly with the Office of the President. Euromaidan and our partner — the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Business — back initiatives to staff key government roles through open competitive selection based on publicly visible résumés.
Priority areas
Our expert group has identified critical problems inherited from previous regimes in the following sectors:
- energy;
- agriculture;
- diversification of oil supply and refining;
- defense industry.
For these sectors we have proposed a barter program — “Ukrainian-made goods in exchange for oil from the Middle East” — and have begun consultations with experts and officials.
Supporting Ukraine’s defense capability
Among our first-priority initiatives is a formal address to the President regarding coordination between the state-owned Ukroboronservis and private manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles — specifically the equipping of UAVs with:
- area reconnaissance and scanning systems for combat zones;
- the ADROS KT-01ABE electro-optical jamming station, which protects aircraft against homing-warhead missiles.
Negotiations with the President on these matters are led by Bohdan Sokolovskyy — former adviser to President Yushchenko and current president of WUBEF.
