New products, new goods, and new forms of energy all begin in the mind of a creator — an inventor, a scientist. Before people knew what to do with oil and gas, they were worth nothing. Before mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion was invented, no one needed electricity. Before the telephone, ordinary mail served us perfectly well.

Wealth is creativity

There is no point in worshipping material things — energy resources, precious metals, money — as absolutes. Real wealth is the genius of the creator, who can both render the most expensive material thing obsolete and bring forth, from raw stone, things that resemble life itself.

Technology turns over the eras

Coal, gas, and oil once replaced wood. Today nuclear energy is replacing them. Indirect methods of converting mechanical to electrical energy are giving way to direct chemical methods.

Not long ago it seemed nothing could threaten magnetic media — that demand, and the wealth of their producers, would only grow. Where are reel tapes and cassettes today? Photographic film production has collapsed under the rise of digital image capture and storage. The list goes on.

What this means

For us, an unassailable fact follows: the true material base of any country is not raw materials, and not matter at all — it is the human factor.

Accordingly, the foundation works toward:

• the development and support of Ukraine’s knowledge-intensive economy;
• the introduction of high-tech products;
• the development of new IT-related services;
• energy independence for Ukraine, achieved through technological progress.
